The Wellness Resilience and Partnership (WRaP) Project is a program through the government of Alberta’s FASD Cross-Ministry committee that provides support to junior and senior high school students with FASD. The WRAP project is going into its third year, and is currently involved with 9 school districts across northern Alberta.

The three goals of the WRaP Project are:

  1. Support Student Engagement
  2. Increase academic success
  3. Support the emotional, physical and social wellbeing of students

The services offered are based on the idea that, in order to learn at school, kids need to be supported across family, social, and emotional factors. The WRaP Project goes into the community and works with kids in schools, alleviating some of the difficulties in accessing services faced by families and teachers who are already busy.
“Success coaches” work with the children to give them the support that they need in order to reach their goals and set them up for success. The WRaP project partners with FASD networks in the community, bringing together community resources, home life, and the school environment to provide students with a positive support system.
