Research in Prevention

There are currently three teams carrying out research initiatives the area of prevention.
  • Evaluating FASD-Specific Public Health and Education Materials is a team focused on identifying all materials prepared or distributed in Canada Northwest on the topic of primary prevention of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.

  • Evaluation of FASD Mentoring Programs is a team focused on understanding the role of Parent-Child Assistance Programs (PCAPs), and other mentoring support programs aimed at preventing FASD, in the lives of women struggling with high-risk substance abuse.

  • Prevention From a Women's Health Determinants Perspective is focused on building the knowledge base related to FASD prevention through work with women and their support systems on a range of health and social issues, and bring this knowledge into research, prevention, treatment, policy, and community settings.
