Brief Description: The CAPC/FADER Coalition, funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada, consists of committed members, striving to reach children, families and communities, with a strong emphasis on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Intervention and Prevention.
There are five program delivery areas for CAPC:
- Quality Early Childhood Programs
- Family Support, Education and Resources
- Support for Women Having Babies
- Formal and Informal Systems Improvement
- Building Community Capacity
This is a very diverse coalition, responding to the needs in each respective community. Outreach and educational services are provided from every site under the direction of local advisory committees and community agencies.
The Role of NFHS in the Coalition: Northern Family Health Society is the Host Agency for this project. The Regional Coordinator works out of NFHS and oversees management, finances and program delivery from each site, reporting to the Public Health Agency of Canada.
The Regional Coordinator can also be contacted to book our FASD Facilitator for training, or for individuals, parents or professionals who wish to access the FAS Resource Centre, located in our agency. It holds a wide variety of resources, up-to-date research, books, videos and information on FASD Intervention and Prevention.

Population Served: CAPC programs have a mandate to provide programs and service delivery for children aged 0-6 and their caregivers, living in conditions of risk.
