Brief Description: This program will facilitate family centered, accessible and affordable short term respite for families living in the Greater Victoria region who are raising a child with FASD. Eligible families will access up to 30 hours per month of subsidized respite care provided by carefully screened and oriented respite workers who will provide both daytime and or evening respite care. In order to adequately support these children and their families, the CRFS coordinators will work closely with community based experts to develop FASD specific orientation and resource materials for the respite workers. Additionally, CRFS will work with the Complex Behavioural and Developmental Conditions Clinic at QAC to screen and select families. Coordinators will support families to identify respite needs, develop a plan and assist families to connect with the appropriate respite worker.
