Brief Description:
A recommendation from caregivers of children affected with FASD was to provide positive role models for the child and to build a consistent, long-term circle of support around the child. This project was to develop a volunteer pool of young adults living with FASD & students/emerging professionals who may be working with youth and/or young adults living with FASD. Workshops were provided to students in order to educate them and recruit mentors for this project. We then matched a student, a young adult child living with FASD, and a child living with FASD based on interests and needs. Student role models to young adults living with FASD how to mentor a child. A mentoring orientation workshop and a mentoring manual was developed and provided to the mentors.
