Brief Description
: The only program of its kind in Canada. Highly structured, intensively supervised, residential program for federal inmates with FASD on statutory or conditional release from federal prison. Six to eight residents at any one time. Residents can stay involved after warrant expiry and many choose to do so. High ratio of staff to residents; all staff trained in FASD. Volunteers involved. Unfunded post release help provided. Four years of learning has evolved the program to one that gradually builds on abilities and relationships. Andrew Boyd believes there has been a very significant reduction in breaches through combination of this program and the employment program they run.
