Brief Description: This project intends to assess the effects of demonstration project classrooms (Grades 4-6) in which the focus is adapting environments, instruction and curriculum to better meet the needs of the students with FASD. It is based on the multi-system, multi-disciplinary, community-based collaborative project developed in Oregon. It is a year long mentorship process designed to change the behaviour of teachers in order to provide an environment more conductive to learning for children with FASD, as well as to follow the students. In order to determine the impact of the intervention, a quasi-experimental research design will be used with intervention and control classrooms in seven at-risk vulnerable schools in Prince George. Outcome measures will be based on results from students, teachers, and potentially, the whole school.
